Students' Parliament - debates, meetings, round tables ...

Municipality of Čukarica

Seeking reliable partners in various activities, on February 11th 2008, members of the Students' Parliament visited the local government of the Municipality of Čukarica and established a direct contact with their "senior colleagues" in the local community.

Legislative process simulation project

Under the guidance of their Students' Parliament, "Ruđer Bošković" High School students had the opportunity to be the first high school students involved in the pilot project "Simulation of the legislative process," jointly organized by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Education and the OSCE Mission. On Thursday, January 31st 2008, we visited the National Assembly and took part in the project to simulate a session of the National Assembly, aimed at raising the level of understanding of political processes by the high school population, to provide insight into the activities of the highest legislative body, and to emphasize the importance and the role of the National Assembly.

During the simulation of the legislative process, proportionally mirroring the actual real balance of power in national parliament, the students played the role of MPs from five virtual parliamentary groups: "Union of Democratic Forces", " Union of National Radicals",  "Our Serbia", "Socialists" and "Tolerance". By simulating the operation of the Legislative Committee, the Committee for European Integration and the Committee for Youth and Sports, the students have become aware of the complex and intricate process of making a law.

Visit to the National Assembly, the Presidency and the Serbian Government building

Having taken part in January in the pilot project "Simulation of the legislative process", on December 1st 2008 "Ruđer Bošković" students participated in a new pilot program for an integrated visit to the buildings housing the Presidency of the Republic, the National Assembly and the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

The cordial hosts provided the students with interesting and valuable information about the history, the importance, the insignia, the characteristics and the functioning of the institutions they visited. During the tour, the "Ruđer Bošković" students had the opportunity to see some of the most important examples of national art housed in the building which is the seat of the President of the Republic of Serbia.

The Municipality of Čukarica - February 11th 2008

Members of the Students' Parliament, accompanied by sociology Professor Srđan Barišić, began a tour of the seat of the Čukarica Municipality.

The cordial staff patiently answered all the questions. We learned a lot of interesting and useful things. For those in love talking to the registrar was probably most interesting. Tara, Kaća, Dušan and Stefan were surprisingly concentrated. The rest of us mostly inquired about employment booklets. The municipality officials explained how does one get an employment booklet, what to do with in case of job change and many other useful things.

After we completed our tour of the Municipal Hall, the Mayor invited us to his meeting room where we exchanged opinions about environmental protection. Our entire visit was covered by our friends from the SOS TV channel.

We hope that this visit will be only the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between "Ruđer Bošković" High School and the municipality of Čukarica.

On this same occasion, a meeting involving representatives of students' parliaments of "Kragujevac First" and "Ruđer Bošković" was arranged.
