In order to commemorate 100 years of the creation of “The Black Square” by Kazimir Malevich, the exhibition “Russian avant-garde” was held in Belgrade.
On Thursday, 25th February, students from Rudjer Boskovic high school visited the Museum of Yugoslav History. In order to understand such art movement like avant-garde we need to understand its essence, to know about its first steps and social background that impacted its creation. The curator of the museum explained in a professional but also easily comprehensible way for the students the facts about this artwork. Through other forms of art like literature and film, and lots of other interesting facts, mostly about Kazimir Malevich, as a representative of avant-garde in Russia, we completely grasped and understood the motives for its creation and the importance of its presence in the world of art. In addition to the visit to the museum, our students also visited House of Flowers (the mausoleum of the leader of the Social Republic of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito) which was also incredible experience.
