Our first “orienteering”

Our first “orienteering”

It took us a long time to prepare for this walk. The team had twelve members, and we covered six points. The story was started by Mina Jarić who took us to Andrićev venac and the house-museum of Ivo Andrić.

It was interesting to feel the atmosphere in which the great writer wrote. Some of us photographed Andrić’s marks (the Austrian –Hungarian system of marking where 1 is the best mark) so some of them could show the marks to their parents and say they were not that bad.

We saw the uniform that Andrić used to wear in diplomatic activities, we saw how the Nobel prize looked like and were impressed with the fact that our writer has been translated into fifty world languages.

Mina and Andrea reminded us about facts from his life and listed his most important works in front of his Statue. Todor Pušica took us to the point number two. The Hotel Moskva and Andrić’s participation in the group of modern artists was his topic. Right at that place did Andrić celebrate his Nobel prize. Serbian teachers Željana and Katarina took us to the point 3, 7 Prizrenska street.

We arrived to the place where Andrić spent the war and wrote his famous novel The Bridge of the Drina. Point four was the place where Andrić’s favourite bookshop was and which he liked to visit. Ana Janković revealed if he liked to read and what his relationship towards literature was. Mia Milunić was our guide to SANU, and she spoke about the relations between Andrić and the Academy. Tara Đorđević was our guide to Kalemegdan and her topic were the memories of Zuka Džumhur.

Teacher Aleksandar took us to the last point with an interesting story about Andrić’s love to sports. We made 6115 steps (4.84 km), which was a lot for us, but we enjoyed studying during such a beautiful day, city and company.
