The “New Moment” Gallery opened an exhibition of Henri Matisse which our students visited. Twenty panels were exhibited on which students could see the famous images of Icarus, The Wolf, The Circus, The Heart, The Cowboy, The Swimmer in the Pool, Lagoon I, II, III and The Sword Swallower. As an inspiration he used his childhood memories of the circus, different stories he had heard as a boy and also many myths and legends. Jazz works are musical, rhythmical and full of movement and are a natural extension of Matisse’s previous work. An interesting collection of the works of Henri Matisse is owned by collectors Živa and Lazar Vujić and UNIQA, the official sponsor of the exhibition that has made it possible for the Belgrade audience to see it.
