DELIBLATO SANDS

DELIBLATO SANDS

IB students that take ESS classes, visited Deliblato sands on November 3rd. Deliblato sands is located in the south-east part of Pannonian Plain, in the south Banat between Tamiš, Vršac and Danube. It originated during the Ice age from deposits of Eolian carbonate-silicate rocks. Its unique ecosystem is home of over 900 different species of plants. The most common are steppe plants: Banat peony, steppe peony, bulrush, dwarf-steppe almond. It is a unique scientific research area because it is the last and the biggest oasis of steppe grassland plains and steppe forests. Our students collected soil samples during this visit, so they can analyse it for their lab-report.
