On Wednesday, 19th November at 9.30, II year students listened to a lecture entitled: A Chronicle of a Failed Marriage – Cicero’s Letters to Terencia.
By reading and analyzing the letters the students could anticipate the reasons for the end of a thirty-year-long marriage between Cicero and Terencia. The students found out about his exile from Rome because of Catalina’s conspiracy and the socio-political environment in Rome during the civil wars. These letters were not intended for publication, and as such represent a valuable historical and intimate account. Around 864 letters have been retrieved.
